Celebrating International Chess Day<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the International Chess Day, the board is set and the pieces are poised as Narayanganj gears up to host the Sailor Checkmate Narayanganj 2025 Inter-School International Rapid Rating Chess Tournament today (Sunday) at the Mohsin Club in the river-port city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Affectionately known as the Dandy of the East, Narayanganj will witness a day-long display of strategic brilliance as 60 budding chess enthusiasts from schools across the district and beyond will lock horns over the 64 squares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament, conducted in the seven-round Swiss League format, promises intense mental sparring as young minds battle it out, move by calculated move, in pursuit of glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the checkmates and castling manoeuvres, the day will also feature a chess-themed quiz competition, putting students\u2019 knowledge of the game to the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the clock ticks and minds race, participants will be challenged to think several moves ahead, not just on the board, but off it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisers informed that there would be much at stake for the young tacticians.   Attractive prizes, commemorative t-shirts, and certificates await the tournament’s top finishers. The quiz winners, too, will not go unrewarded, with special prizes up for grabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to the prestige of the occasion, the President of the Bangladesh Chess Federation, Mr Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, will attend as the Chief Guest and present awards to the champions of the day, acknowledging their command over the royal game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tournament, organised by Mohsin Club, Narayanganj, is to be held under the banner of Sailor and supported by the Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF), to promoting intellectual sport and fostering competitive spirit among school-going youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the pawns advance and the queens take centre stage, today’s tournament promises to be more than just a competition, as the organisers are hoping that it will be a celebration of mind over matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
