{"id":9564,"date":"2025-03-22T21:15:26","date_gmt":"2025-03-22T15:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chessbd.com\/?p=9564"},"modified":"2025-03-22T21:15:27","modified_gmt":"2025-03-22T15:15:27","slug":"faci-project-from-five-to-eight-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/?p=9564","title":{"rendered":"FACI Project: From five to eight countries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>n 2025, the&nbsp;<strong>Freedom Asian Chess Initiatives (FACI)<\/strong>&nbsp;project, which supports chess federations in Asian countries where chess is still underdeveloped, will expand from five participating countries to eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2024, the&nbsp;<strong>Kazakhstan Chess Federation (KazChess\/KCF)<\/strong>, with financial support from&nbsp;<strong>Freedom Holding Corp.<\/strong>&nbsp;and in partnership with&nbsp;<strong>FIDE<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Asian Chess Federation (ACF),<\/strong>&nbsp;has been implementing the&nbsp;<strong>Freedom Asian Chess Initiatives (FACI)<\/strong>&nbsp;program. This initiative provides assistance to chess federations in Asian countries where chess is not yet sufficiently developed. The first beneficiary countries were&nbsp;<strong>Cambodia, Nepal, Oman, Tajikistan, and Sri Lanka<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in April 2024, Kazakhstani coaches have been conducting training sessions in these countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kirill Kuderinov<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Sri Lanka<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dmitry Stativkin<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Oman<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Murtas Kazhgaleyev<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Nepal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evgeniy Vladimirov<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Tajikistan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bakhtiyar Askarov<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Cambodia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"654\" src=\"https:\/\/chessbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-7.png 1000w, https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-7-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-7-768x502.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The program includes training sessions for youth and adult national teams, as well as educational seminars for local coaches. After the in-person sessions, training continues online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the program structure ensures that each coach spends approximately one month on-site, followed by eight weeks of online training, and then one final month in the country, making it a four-month intensive training cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"697\" src=\"https:\/\/chessbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9566\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-8.png 1000w, https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-8-300x209.png 300w, https:\/\/chessbangladesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-8-768x535.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the positive feedback from all five federations, a working group consisting of&nbsp;<strong>Victor Bologan (FIDE), Hisham Al-Taher (ACF), Darmen Sadvakasov<\/strong>, and<strong>&nbsp;Gulmira Dauletova (KazChess\/KCF)<\/strong>&nbsp;reviewed applications for FACI 2025 in February. They decided to expand the program to include three more countries, bringing the total to eight (listed alphabetically):<br><strong>Bhutan, Jordan, Cambodia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Sri Lanka<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the&nbsp;<strong>45th Chess Olympiad 2024 in Budapest<\/strong>, the three newly added countries achieved the following results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The men\u2019s teams of\u00a0<strong>Pakistan, Jordan,\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Bhutan<\/strong>\u00a0ranked 97th, 130th, and 141st out of 188 teams, respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The women\u2019s teams of\u00a0<strong>Jordan\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Pakistan<\/strong>\u00a0finished 92nd and 122nd out of 169 teams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bhutan did not compete in the women\u2019s tournament.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of coaches for each of the eight countries will be finalized soon.
